Aaaaand we're BACK!

Ok so I officially win the award for the worst blogger in the world. It's been WAY too long since I've written a post. So much has happened in the past year! Where to start?

Well...We moved to California! Such a huge move from Massachusetts to Cali but totally worth it. Knoxy loves it here. The move itself was pretty stressful on both humans and dog. We ended up driving out here. Amos has to start his job right away so he took off the day after Christmas with Knox and I stayed behind to take care of things back in MA and joined him in February. It was a very hard 6 weeks being away from my boy, but the reunion was priceless. And now here we are 6 months in and loving it. We have so many wonderful friends, and knox gets to play with so many shiba friends! Knox also has completed his test and observations to become a Therapy Dog! He's really mellowed and become a total joy to have around. He's well behaved, calm, yet playful and silly at times. I can't describe the love I feel for this little fluff ball. More love than I was ever expecting or than I anticipated.

Knoxy is now 2 years old! I can't believe it. I read the posts from even before we got him and I can't believe how much has changed.

Well, in the past year we got heavily involved in rescue work and fostering. It was an extremely rewarding experience, and we decided to continue doing the same thing on the west coast. We are currently fostering a sassy little black & tan female shiba named Tasha. We have had her for a little over a week now and can already see a change in her. She came to us very nervous, shy, and wouldn't really interact with anyone. She's so-so about other dogs. She gets along with Knox MOST of the time but once in a blue moon she gets a little "bitchy" and snappy. We are working on that. We aren't quite sure if she would do best as an only dog or not. But she DOES need to loose a significant amount of weight. She's very small, but weighs the same as Knox who is a BIG shiba. Knox is 31 pounds and tall!

But we will do all we can for Tasha and let her know it's okay to have fun and be spunky!

Pics to come! Just wanted to post an update! I'm really going to try to keep up with this! Or Knox will kill me.

Special Shiba Puppy Needs a good home in New England!

Hi Boston Sheebs! I am posting this on behalf of a good friend in MA. She has a special little pup who is looking for a very special home, could you be that home? Here's some info about little "Forrest":

Run Forrest Run!
Meet Forrest, a beautiful cream Shiba Inu boy, born June 27th 2012.  Forrest is winning hearts as one of a litter of three.  In most ways, he is just like his brother and sister, however unlike his siblings, Forrest was born a little different.
Forrest was born with a congenital condition called Patellar Agenesis, otherwise known as a lack of kneecaps.  What does this mean for Forrest?  Well, it means he moves a little differently than the others.  He has a bit of hop when he runs full speed, but he certainly keeps up with his friends.  He has been evaluated by two veterinary professionals, one of whom is an Orthopedic Specialist.  While neither is able to say for sure what the future has in store for him, they do agree on a few key points.  First, Forrest is oblivious to his condition… he is in no pain and plays and horses around with joyous abandon.  Second, due to the rarity of his condition, there is at this time no surgical intervention necessary or expected.  Finally, though his condition is rare, there is every reason to believe that in the right home, with the right family, Forrest has a bright future ahead of him and will be a loving and fun companion.  Forrest is an outgoing little boy who can run, play, chase balls, play tug of war, snuggle in for cuddles and give Shiba kisses, but feisty enough to keep you laughing and on your toes……. just like any other puppy. He is comfortable in an x-pen, crate, collar & leash, and reliable with his potty training.  He is very social and friendly with both people and other dogs.
You may now be wondering, “Ok, so what does this puppy need?”  Well, the ideal home/family for Forrest is one with active Shiba parents to ensure he gets plenty of exercise to keep his muscles toned, preferably with a fenced yard for playing fetch. Keeping him trim and not allowing him to become overweight will also be important. Another dog to entice him to play and exercise could be good as long as the dog is known not to be too rough at play. Last, we would prefer to avoid homes with young children.

Please help save sweet Ava!

Hi all! I know it's been FOREVER since we've posted. Life has kind of took over, mostly for the better! In the past year we have really gotten into rescue work and fostering. We are proud to say we have fostered 7 fur babies and loved every one of them to pieces! Our current foster Ava is in a lot of trouble and has a lot of health problems. I am asking for your help today. Ava is very very sick with heartworm. Also we found out while she was getting spayed she was pregnant. The vet determined the pregnancy would be too damaging on her heart and had to unfortunately terminate it.

We pulled Ava from a high kill shelter in Georgia minutes before she was to be put to sleep due to over crowding. Thanks to lots of amazing volunteers we got her up to SC to get her vetted & spayed and that's when all the health problems surfaced.

Ava is very confused, but sweet and always has her tail wagging. She is a precious girl and doesn't deserve the cards she's been dealt. She can't even go out in the back yard lately because her coughing is getting so bad =( Can you please help us? Any donations are welcomed and no donation is too big or small! If you can't donate PLEASE PLEASE share! The more people who know about this baby the better! She is dying for a 2nd chance at a happy healthy life in a loving forever home!

Below is the link to the Chip In site where you can make your donations. Any questions feel free to email me or leave a comment. THANK YOU so much for taking the time to read this!

Hi! I'm sweet Ava! Can you help me?

Shiba mini meetup!

Well, this happened a couple weeks ago but of course my lazy typist humother is just posting it now. Le sigh...

But it wuz SUPER pawsome! We met up wif lotsa shibas! And do lotsa zoomies! Weeee!!

Shibas r da BOSS!

Like DAT!

We also had another purpose for this meet up. Another Shiba named Raiden and I did not get off to a good start a few months ago. At our first meet, we were both intact males and very alpha and dominant. Humans made a bad mistake by introducing us for the first time in my home, and I got a little mean. Well, a lot mean. Long story short, we did NOT get along. At all.

So we let the dust settle, and humans had both of us neutered. And we were hoping for a better round 2. Humom was reaaaaaaallyyyyyy nervous and expecting the worst. But when we approached each other, it was all forgotten and nuffin but play time and zoomies ahead of us! All humans were so relieved =)

RAWRRRR!
Play Play Play!!
Can't wait for NE Shibapalooza!!!!!
